Sanitary Pipe CIPP Lining

Installation of a Cured-In-Place Pipe Liner is a Meticulously Planned - Well Choreographed Project

The key to successful cured-in-place pipe liner installations is project planning. The value of cured-in-place pipe lining is the minimal surface - social disruption, minimal inconvenience to property owners. JTV, Inc. plans all cured-in-place pipe liner installations to be completed within 18 hours or less.

Sanitary sewers with lateral connections play a major factor in determining installation schedules. The time required for lateral reinstatements determine the overall installation time and the time property owners are inconvenienced. Reducing property owners' inconvenience is a major concern of JTV, Inc.

Preparation Work Prior To A Cured-In-Place Pipe Liner Installation
  • Thoroughly clean pipe section to be lined removing all dirt, grease, scale & roots.
  • CCTV inspect line to confirm cleaning and check for structural pipe problems. If protruding laterals are discovered, use robot to cut / mill / grind lateral pipe to host pipe wall surface.
  • Obtain and confirm all measurements for each cured-in-place-pipe liner installation - without exception, all below measurements must be obtained from the work site.
    • Pipe diameter at each end of pipe - requires Confined Space Entry Permit and procedures
    • Upstream manhole depth - from manhole rim to invert
    • Downstream manhole depth - from manhole rim to invert
    • Confirm pipe length - surface measure
    • Confirm pipe length - CCTV camera measurement
  • Prepare an ASTM design calculation to determine required wall thickness of cured-in-place pipe liner for every individual cured-in-place pipe liner.
  • Order dry cured-in-place liner, resin & catalyst
  • Design & plan traffic control plan for liner installation site
  • Design & plan bypass pumping system for liner installation
  • Distribute door hangers / notifications to residents 48 hours before installation
  • Distribute door hangers / notifications to residents 24 hours before installation, second notice.
  • Prepare liner for installation, saturate cured-in-place pipe liner with catalyzed resin at dedicated wetout facility.

Installation Day For Cured-In-Place Pipe Liners - 18 Hours Or Less
  • Distribute door hangers, final notices to all affected properties not to use water until further notice.
  • Installation crew to hold "tool Box" meeting to discuss the days' work and prepare Confined Space Entry permits.
  • Setup traffic safety control as planned around work area, notify municipal authorities of road closures, detours and commencement of project work.
  • Set-up and test bypass pumping system.
  • High pressure sewer jet sewer pipe section(s) to be lined, minimum 2 passes.
  • CCTV inspect pipe section(s) to be lined, this will be saved as the pre-inspection video for future reference.
  • Confirm pipe diameter and length of pipe to be lined.
  • Setup required equipment for the cured-in-place pipe inversion installation.
  • Invert cured-in-place pipe liner into sewer pipe section(s).
  • Heat and circulate water within liner to cure thermosetting resin using boiler truck, hold at temperature until resin exotherm (per resin /catalyst manufacturer's specifications).
  • Add (to displace) & circulate cold water to gradually cool down liner (per resin /catalyst manufacturer's specifications).
  • Cut downstream liner end open to drain water and trim to end of pipe.
  • Cut upstream liner open and trim to end of pipe.
  • Inspect new liner for possible imperfections.
  • Setup robotic cutter to open lateral connections, rough cut
  • Advise property owners that water usage may resume.
  • Use robotic cutter fully open lateral connections, finish - brush cut.
  • Prepare final CCTV video inspection for submittal.
